James is an accomplished keyboardist, vocalist, musical director, songwriter, arranger, producer, educator, businessman and philanthropist. Since moving to Washington, DC in 1988, James has performed for three U.S. Presidents and has performed with Rachell Ferrell, Kenny Lattimore, Raheem Devaugn, Eric Roberson, Kenny Burrell, James Moody, and more. His co-writing, co-production and performance contributed to Carolyn Malachi's 2011 Grammy Nomination as well as to Wayna & Kokayi’s Nomination in 2009. Most recently McKinney produced the Congressional Black Caucus’ Tribute to Stevie Wonder featuring several artists including Stevie Wonder and Dionne Warwick. McKinney currently serves as Chief Operating Officer of Eusonia Records, and is the owner and operator of Infinite Icon Enterprises, LLC, his production company.

James also uses his skills to enhance the human condition through philanthropy and education. He recently completed serving two consecutive terms as a Trustee of the Board of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, (NARAS also know as The Grammy Association), as well as a National Co-Chair of the Producers and Engineers Wing (from 2009-2013). Furthermore, he performs and conducts nationwide educational and technical workshops, and seeks out opportunities to help worldwide communities through his musical abilities and other talents.

James counts his musical talents, business savvy and experience as a blessing. He looks forward to continuing to use his gifts for the betterment and empowerment of people needing and seeking positive inspiration around the world, as he continues to share his and other’s music globally through live performance and recorded music.
